Frequently Asked Questions

You have one million questions, I know! Not to worry here, we’ve been through this before and know exactly what you’re wondering. Here’s a compilation of frequently answered questions…

DO YOU PROVIDE VIDEOGRAPHY?

We personally do not offer videography however, we often work alongside Mechanical Eye Films and highly recommend their art and services.

WHAT IS IMAGE TURNAROUND TIME?

Our work is focused on creating exquisite art using the finest methods and quality products. With a passion for the details, we carefully curate and present each and every project we photograph. Our editing process is not the fastest method, but we see it as the most beautiful. Turnaround times for engagement and portrait sessions average 4 to 5 weeks. Turnaround times for wedding images average 8 to 12 weeks.

WHAT EQUIPMENT DO YOU FAVOR?

We shoot on Canon base DSLR camera and use a variety of lenses throughout the day. Primarily we favor both 35mm and 50mm prime lenses. We will use a macro lens for intimate detail, such as your rings and other delicate items. We will also use a 70mm - 200mm lens for restricted ceremony locations. All equipment is serviced regularly.

WHAT HAPPENS IN CASE OF AN EMERGENCY ON OUR WEDDING DAY?

Having an emergency come up immediately before a wedding is certainly an unpleasant thought and a circumstance we have yet to encounter (*knock on wood*). Leading up to a wedding, we plan our lives carefully to ensure our health is in top form and that we have ample travel time. Should unforeseen circumstances prevent us from attending your wedding, we will do our best to arrange a replacement photographer of equivalent caliber and style, or simply return all monies and allow you to make your own arrangements if you so choose. We have a strong network of associations to aid in such an unlikely circumstance.

HOW MANY PHOTOS WILL BE IN MY FINAL GALLERY?

All final images we select will be in your online gallery, typically 80-100 per hour of coverage, are a selection we have curated based on quality. We include only the highest quality images from each setup angle. Omitted images may include blinking, bad expressions or blur. All final images receive color corrections and exposure adjustments before we present them in the online gallery.

DO THESE IMAGES INCLUDE RETOUCHING, COLOR ADJUSTMENT OR OTHER CORRECTIVE SERVICES? IS THERE AN ADDITIONAL FEE FOR THESE SERVICES?

We love working with our own equipment as its high quality is the best on the market and because it is kind to our subjects’ skin, therefore we have little need for retouching. As mentioned earlier, the final set of images are corrected for color and adjusted for exposure.

Individual images that you order as prints from the online gallery or those you’ve selected to appear in an album layout will receive a final image inspection for individual color and exposure adjustments. These images also receive basic retouching, which includes blemish removal, small under-eye touch-up, distracting hair removal and/or slight cropping. Our preference is for all images to look natural and untouched. Any adjustments we make are minimal, leaving your photographs looking clean, beautiful and representative of your celebration.

We also offer professional retouching for more extensive requests. These may include wardrobe, hair and makeup adjustments, head swapping, background alterations or any elements beyond basic retouching at a rate of $100/hour. For this, we will provide a quote for your approval before commissioning any additional work.

WHY SHOULD I CONSIDER WORKING WITH A WEDDING PLANNER/DESIGNER?

Weddings are once-in-a-lifetime events filled with elegant details, timelines, loved ones and lots of emotion. A wedding planner can take your vision and enhance it beyond what you can imagine, allowing you to enjoy a stress-free wedding day.

We work closely with each planner to ensure we are afforded the opportunity to capture all the beautiful elements of your wedding day. Photographing your wedding is much more efficient and smooth when we work with a talented planner, as we are able to focus solely on creating captivating imagery while the wedding logistics are safely in their hands.

IN WHAT RESOLUTION WILL MY PHOTOS BE DELIVERED?

We don’t do this for Instagram, we do this for your walls, your grandmother’s wallet, your parents album. That’s why we deliver the highest possible quality images on each and every frame. Images are never resized down and each photo is particularly large. Photo sizes range anywhere from 4 to 30 MB each depending on final cropping, coloring, and megapixel. Each photo is taken in a RAW digital format which can be upwards of 50MB+ and then developed into a jpeg format. The resolution you receive is extremely large so that you may order extremely large prints without compromising quality.

DO I NEED TO HIRE A SECOND SHOOTER?

A second shooter can be acquired to any wedding photography package in which I will acquire secondary talent. Most always one photographer is more than sufficient to cover all moving pieces of the day unless coverage is required at multiple locations at the same time. These details can be reviewed as we build your timeline. My husband and creative business partner, Bill, travel and own most weddings as a team. Throughout the day, he transitions from an assistant role to portrait organizer, and equipment manager. Some weddings may not even need an assistant depending on logistics.

WHAT IS YOUR APPROACH TO WEDDING DAY COVERAGE?

We have a very hands-on approach to setting up a wedding day timeline, and our goal is to ensure that you have the best natural light for each part of your celebration. We also prefer to help build a timeline (together with your planner/designer) that gives you plenty of time for all photographs throughout the day with buffers to ensure you have a smooth and enjoyable experience. We balance art directing, styled detail shots and portraits, and capturing the moments that happen organically through photo-journalistic coverage. The end result yields a beautiful balance of people, details and emotion.

SHOULD I CREATE A SHOT LIST?

While it isn’t necessary to create a shot list for the entire day (we are very thorough and detail oriented), we recommend bringing to our attention any special people, moments or details you’d like to capture. On your wedding day, please place the rings, dress, shoes, jewelry and any other heirlooms you’d like in the photos in the bridal suite. We will spend the first hour of our coverage shooting your details and final hair/makeup. We will first photograph you with your immediate family members (parents and siblings) and grandparents (if applicable) during the allotted formal family time. If you have groupings outside of immediate family, we suggest you send us a list at least two weeks prior to your wedding so we can schedule our time accordingly. Additionally, please inform us of any special groupings due to family circumstances (i.e divorce, stepparents, etc).

WHO OWNS THE COPYRIGHT TO THE IMAGES?

All photographs taken by Eagle Spirit Photography are protected by United States Copyright Laws (USC Title 17). Once you receive the digital images USB and/or online gallery, you will have a shared copyright for personal use. You may make copies of the images, display the images, share and use the images for personal use and to send to friends and relatives. We kindly require that you give credit to Eagle Spirit Photography (@eaglespiritphotography) when sharing images online or via social media. Please note: for display prints or larger wall prints we highly recommend ordering through your online gallery. These images are professionally printed, color corrected and checked to ensure the highest quality.

DO I SELECT THE IMAGES THAT WILL BE USED IN MY WEDDING ALBUM?

If an album is included in your collection or you choose to purchase one later, you will receive a first draft approximately 6 to 8 weeks after receiving your images or placing a deposit. We custom design and lay out your album drafts to best narrate your wedding’s beautiful story. If certain images are desired in your album, you can select images in your gallery as favorites to be included. When you receive the first draft, you have the opportunity to make revisions. These may include swapping images, omitting spreads or adding spreads. Once you have approved your draft layout, we edit the images for the last time and send you a final PDF to approve before proceeding to production.

HOW DO YOU ENSURE THAT YOU STAY ON SCHEDULE DURING THE DAY?

Staying on schedule is one of the most important factors of our work. We plan carefully with your wedding planner or person in charge of logistics to create a custom minute-by-minute photo timeline for each event. Adhering to our photo timeline ensures that we are able to capture every incredible moment and detail of your celebration in optimal lighting conditions.

CAN I CUSTOMIZE A WEDDING PACKAGE?

Absolutely. We are happy to tailor any collection to best suit your celebration. Please email us your wish list. We will follow up with a bespoke collection for your review.
